Walnut Class Term 3 Week 3

It was a very cold but lovely week. Amazing learning took place all week in Walnut Class.

We have been focusing on news reports during our Literacy learning. Children created and reviewed story boards and how they could be used to plan and film a news report. They looked at the quotes given on the slides and read them aloud with expression and intonation to show the mood of the quote. They included these skills in their final news report videos. They enjoyed the filming of their news reports.

In Maths, Year 3's used flexible partitioning to divide 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. They found it challenging, but got it in the end and were so excited when they grasped the concept.  Year 4's used column multiplication to multiply 2-dgit numbers by a 1-digit number.

For our Science learning we explored how to construct a simple circuit to make a light bulb light up. The loved the experiment and understood what the problems might be when the light bulb didn't light up.

During our History session we explored how the Roman roads were built and why are they so strong. Children constructed their own Roman roads, which they have thoroughly enjoyed. They all thought that they could be the engineers who could fix our roads so we don't have pot holes anymore.

Have a lovely weekend.
