Term 5 Week 3

It has been a short week this week but this is what we have been learning.

Literacy

In literacy this week we have continued with Greek mythology. We read the story of Medusa and Perseus the Gorgon Slayer.  The children seem really interested in the Greek myths and are producing some fantastic writing. We have written summaries of the story and character descriptions.

Maths

In maths, Year 5 have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. They have also been sorting and classifying shapes and using this knowledge to solve problems. Year 6 have been exploring nets for 3D shapes and plotting points and shapes using the 4 quadrants, reflections and translations.

P.E. is now every Tuesday afternoon.

There are still some children not wearing the correct PE kit. It must be black shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings with the team colour T shirt. No belly tops should be worn either.

Kings Charles III Coronation

We have spent time this week discussing the King’s coronation and looking at British values. The children made bunting and designed a crown for a competition. We finished the week by having a celebratory assembly for the coronation and then having our garden party outside.

YEAR 6 SATS BEGIN ON TUESDAY 9TH MAY. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL ON TIME EVERYDAY.

Breakfast Club in the Gold room will be available for all year 6 children from 8.15am Tuesday – Friday during SATs week.

Have a great weekend.
