Cherry Class Blog Week 5 Term 2

Welcome everyone to our second to last blog of 2023!

The children have really put their understanding of our recent learning linked to poetry this week and written poems about both special people and important events / hobbies. They have all used figurative language, such as similes, metaphors, repetition, personification, etc in their independent poems.

Year 6 have moved away from fractions and spent the week looking at 'measures' in particular converting from different units of measurement. Year 5 however continued their learning linked to fractions and this week we looked at fraction subtraction in conjunction with both improper fractions and mixed numbers also.

In Science we investigated the chances that occur as you move into 'old age' and in History we looked at how important discoveries / inventions / ideas from 1000 years ago were brought from the Islamic world were brought to Europe.

In PE we had a very enjoyable double indoor session, with Yoga/Fitness in the morning and a stand-alone gymnastics sessions after lunch, due to the weather being too wet for outdoor tag-rugby.

Have a great weekend everyone, well done for all your efforts this week.

Regards, Mr Ramsden & Miss Stokes.
