Week beginning 31st October
Our topic this term is: What Price is Progress? Where we will be focusing on the subjects: Art, Music, History, Design Technology and Science. This week we introduced our History topic: Early Islam. We found out the impact they have had on our lives to day and the progress they made in the Dark Ages. This week we looked at the Round City that established Baghdad.
In Literacy, we began our poetry unit by writing poems about Bonfire night. Next week, we begin looking at poems from anthologies and identifying language and techniques poets used and try applying this to our own writing.
Year 5 Maths
In Year 5, we have been looking at prime, square and cube numbers in addition to multiplying by 10,100 and 1,000. This let us draw on knowledge from our place value topic and practice our times tables skills. We will be moving on to fractions next week.
