Term 2 week 2

Hello :)

What an amazing full week we have had! Oak Class have worked so hard with their learning and it was lovely to share all they have been up to at our class assembly.

English

In English this week we have continued to look at non-fiction. We have been reading about Paddington who is guiding us around London and our most recent trip was to the Tower of London! Oak Class have learnt lots of facts about the Tower and have learnt some new vocabulary. Linking to our guided reading lessons where we have been discussing and clarifying the meaning of words, we have looked at the context of the words and added these to our vocabulary bank.

Maths

In maths we have continued to look at addition and subtraction. Oak Class are able to add and subtract 2 digit numbers using a pictorial method to support them and have now started to confidently cross the tens. Oak Class can apply their knowledge to problem solving and some of us have even started to look at two step problems!

Afternoons

In Science we have continued to look at materials and their suitability for their purposes. We have also in history been looking at significant national events beyond living memory and understand why we celebrate the 5th of November and the gunpowder plot!

Reminders

  • Home Learning is set every week and this supports your child with their learning. Please ensure that you complete this and speak to Miss Beamish if there are any issues accessing the sites.
  • Reading records should be in school DAILY. They are collected every Friday for me to see all the amazing reading taking place at home.
  • Please remember that costumes for the Christmas Play are due by Monday the 27th of November. You can send them in sooner if you wish but please ensure you send it in a named bag.

Have a lovely weekend :)
