Cherry Class Blog Week 3 Term 1

Hi everyone, and welcome to our latest blog!

Another busy busy week at school - lots of great learning achieved over a wide range of subjects.

In Literacy, we have started our class text (Kensuke's Kingdom) and had a chance to write in character as the young boy Micheal, who is about to embark on an epic voyage around the world with his parents on a small sailing boat. This week we wrote a letter and on Monday we are going to send a postcard in character.

To reinforce our understanding of position and where places are in the world, in geography this week we investigated latitude and longitude lines and the children used atlases to find the exact locations of islands around the world!

In Numeracy, both year groups continued with their learning linked to Place Value. Both year groups used number lines to order numbers and Year 6 moved onto rounding of numbers up to 10,000,000!

In RE, we had a lively discussion about Christian beliefs and what we thought God was 'like' using evidence from the Bible.

We also had Spanish this week and the children have a chance to use correct introductions and feelings, using correct pronunciations!

Well done for all your efforts this week - class assembly Friday 5th October, please come along and support your child.

Regards
