Term 5 Week 4

An absolutely amazing well done to our Year 6 this week for completing their SATs. It has been a long and tiring week, but they tried their best and that’s all we ask. Well done to Year 5 who had lots of changes to accommodate the Year 6 whilst they did their SATs. You are all stars.

Literacy

In literacy this week we have continued with Greek mythology. We read the story of Icarus and Daedalus. We wrote predictions and used role play to support script writing and how to use inverted commas for speech. We rewrote the myth in our own words at the end of the week.

Maths

Due to SATs, Year 5 and 6 worked together to develop their fluency skills and were learning how to problem solve together in a variety of ways.

P.E. is now every Tuesday afternoon.

There are still some children not wearing the correct PE kit. It must be black shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings with the team colour T shirt. No belly tops should be worn either.

This week we worked as a team to find coordinates to make shapes: this was linked to maths.

We also played mini games of cricket developing our bowling, batting and fielding skills.

History

We continued our learning on the Vikings with a focus on the cause and effect of the Lindisfarne attacks.

Science

Continuing to find out about Earth and Space, we are beginning to explore how time was told in Ancient Greece (linked to Literacy) and will be looking at sundials. We will be exploring how they work and how shadows help to tell the time. We will investigate how to make a sundial and test it over the following weeks.

Have a great weekend.
