Term 2 Week 6 8.12.23

In Literacy this week we have written our poems based on Christmas/winter for our hot write. We had to include figurative language and a rhythm or rhyme as part of the success criteria. We will be using the Garage Band app next week to create a musical beat to perform a poem.

In Maths, year 5 have finished their learning on fractions and moved onto reading and writing Roman Numerals. Year 6 have been consolidating their learning on all 4 operations and addressing misconceptions when doing long multiplication and short division, including remainders.

In History, we have been making notes, concluding research to create an information text about Islam civilisation and the influence on society today.

In science this week we have been looking at old age in humans. We have discussed the physical features of how adults change as they get old and how this affects us with our thinking.

In PSHE, we looked at how we should protect ourselves in the sun. In RE we looked at how we could promote equality and the 'Golden Rule' in religious belief. In PE, we have continued to develop our skills for Tag Rugby and Fitness.

Our class Christmas party is next Friday afternoon 15.12.23. The children can come to school in their own clothes. We will have PE in the morning, but not in the afternoon, so suitable clothing/footwear for PE should be worn.

  • Mobile Phones – Mobile phones should be brought in by children who walk home alone, not by children who are collected by their adult.
  • The children should not be bringing their own fiddle toys to school. We have a selection in the classroom.
  • Reading books should be written in when the children have read either independently or with an adult.
  • The PE kit is their team colour T shirt and black/navy shorts NOT tracksuits.
  • TTRockstars and EdShed are our home learning Apps, please go on these weekly. There are assignments on EdShed

Have a lovely weekend.
