Cherry Class Blog Week 2 Term 1

Welcome everyone to our second blog of the term!

We've had a busy week in Cherry Class and I have been pleased by the learning achieved by the children AND their attitude to learning (one of their tasks this week was to write, independently, an adventure story based on a journey on a boat. Tables were separated and you literally could have heard a pin drop, given the absolute silence and concentration by everyone to write a story over two with a clearly defined structure, appropriate language and punctuation used. Tomorrow we will edit the learning and I look forward to reading their finished learning this weekend!

In Numeracy, both Year group have been looking at Place Value, understanding the value of digits up to millions and being able to accurately represent a given number in a range of ways.

In Science we looked at the reproduction process of a plant and this afternoon (Thursday 14th) the children created some fantastic water coloured botanical illustrations. I will put pictures up next week I took of their learning once I have confirmation from the office of which children have permission to have their faces shown on the website!

We had a lively and engaging conversation in RE linked to God and peoples' beliefs. The class were very respectful to others throughout the lesson.

Well done for all your other learning, whether it be handwriting, spellings, reading comprehension, geography (linked to the island of Cape Verde and its human and physical geographical features)

Please continue to read at home and bring into school everyday Reading Record books!

Take care everyone
