Term 5, Week 1

Apples and Pears have settled back into school life after their Easter holidays. We have had a jam packed week with the children leading their own learning. We found a ladybird, which lead to us using the IPads to find out about why they had spots. Some children were also keen to role-play and recreate their experiences from Forest School. They built fires, made pretend food and created dens and sleeping bags. The children were very interested in creating their own kites, using rockets as a template. They enjoyed testing them out in the wind this week!

We looked at ‘Whatever next’ for our story this week, which lead the children’s learning onto different transport and where they wanted to go next. Some discussed a farm and this will lead onto next week’s learning.

In Maths we have looked at 3D shapes. The children choose to find different shapes during a hunt, build 3D objects using the shapes and play the barrier game which included children listening to instructions from their partner to build a 3D tower.

This term in PE children will be learning Tennis skills. Please bring in your child’s PE kit for Apple Class PE lesson on a Monday and Pear Class PE lesson on a Thursday. Pears will be having the PASS PE coach this term.

We have had a great first week back to the new term!

Have a lovely weekend,

The EYFS Team.
