Term 5 Week 1

It has been a busy first week back getting into our new topic, Let's plant it. We are learning all about plants and how they are pollinated, and have started the topic learning all about the parts of a flower and their functions building on our learning from KS1. The children have been out looking at plants around the school to identify the different parts, and we have also planted some pansies to see how they grow under different conditions.

In Literacy we have been learning all about carnivorous plants building up our knowledge so that we can write our own non-chronological reports on them later in the term. We have been learning about the different tenses we can write in, focussing on the present tense.

In Maths Year 4 have continued their learning on decimals, looking at converting decimals and fractions that add up to 1. Year 3 have been looking at fractions, practicing adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.

This term our PE topic is Rounders, and our PE day is Wednesday. Please ensure children come to school in their correct PE kit on the day, with suitable shoes and a hat if the weather is warm.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Mr Saunders, Miss Churchill, Mrs Mallon, Mrs Relf and Miss Rackley.
