Walnut Class Term 1 Week 7

It's Half Term!

We would like to thank all of the adults who attended our class assembly this morning, it was a pleasure to share all the children's amazing learning with you. This week the children have really showcased how much they have learnt this term by writing their own playscripts, which were based on the story of Robinson Crusoe. They have really engaged in the topic this term and have written some very exciting journey tales and playscripts.

In Maths Year 4 have been looking at the formal methods for addition and subtraction including exchanging. Year 3 have also been looking at addition and subtraction methods for numbers with three digits and those where questions have a different number of digits.

In our Science learning we looked at the importance of staying safe in the sun and how the light from the sun can be damaging for our skin and eyes. We also created our own sun glasses and showed it off in our Assembly today. In our Geography learning we used our computing skills to create fact files about the UK as an island.

Reminders:

Remember to encourage your child to go on Times Tables  Rock Stars as this will increase their accuracy and confidence with multiplication and division facts.

Swimming is on Tuesdays as usual – please remember to bring swimming kit on Tuesday morning and to email or phone the office if there is any reason why your child cannot attend a swimming lesson. It is a lesson, so they are expected to attend. Please do not ask your child to tell the teacher that they cannot go.

P.E. is on a Wednesday next term – please wear correct P.E. kit to school

We hope you have a lovely Half Term.

From Mrs Jacobs and Mr Dodd.
