Cherry Class Blog Week 5

Week 5 has now be completed and we only have two weeks left of Term 1!

We have been practising our class assembly this week and I hope the parents who were able to come and watch it on Friday were able to enjoy the class showcasing a little of their learning so far this term.

In Literacy we are well over halfway through the class text 'Kensuke's Kingdom' and the children this week described both settings and characters from the story.

Year 5 moved away from place values and have been investigating mental and written strategies of both addition and subtraction, whereas Year 6 concentrated on multiples and factors.

Last week we investigated the life cycles of amphibians and insects, this week it was the turn of mammals and birds! Some lovely life cycle drawings completed and written explanations also.

We investigated 'Fair Trade' this week in Geography and had a very interesting afternoon looking at how 'Fair Trade' benefits banana farmers in St Lucia in the West Indies.

We've been so fortunate with the weather this term, and it has meant every PE session has been able to be run on the field. The children have enjoyed a mixture of football and basketball on the playground on Friday afternoons.

Well done everyone for a great week of learning! Enjoy your weekends!

Regards
