8th December Weekly Review

We have enjoyed another week of learning in Maple Class!

This week, for our Literacy, we have focused on our ‘Hot Write,’ an independent piece of writing, based on our focus text, ‘Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx.’ Children spent time carefully planning the beginning, build up, problem, resolution and ending of our narrative using various literary devices including similes, adjectives, personification and dialogue. They have structured their writing into paragraphs, each with their own theme.

For their Maths learning, Year 3 have been focusing on the eight times table, using their knowledge of the four and two times table to recognise associated patterns to help them learn multiplication and division facts. Year 4 have used addition skills to solve multi-step problems.

For our Topic learning, children completed painting their Egyptian tomb and the decoration of the walls inside the tomb. For this, they used their knowledge of Egyptian art and hieroglyphics.

The children enjoyed a discussion about different religious festivals celebrated around the world, as part of their RE learning. They debated whether non-religious people should have time off to celebrate religious festivals. They also compared similarities and differences between religions.

Reminders:

Swimming is on Monday as usual.

Christmas Dinner is next Wednesday 13th - we will still have our P.E. lesson in the afternoon so please remember to wear P.E. kit.

Have a good weekend!
