We would like to say a 'BIG THANK YOU' to all parents and carers who attended our class assembly, it meant a lot to the children and staff.
It has been another busy, getting into our new topic, Let's plant it! We are learning all about plants and how they are pollinated, and have started the topic learning all about the parts of a flower and their functions building on our learning from KS1. The children have been out looking at plants around the school to identify the different parts, and we have also planted some pansies to see how they grow under different conditions. We've also planted cress seeds in pots this week and left in in different areas to see how they will respond, we will monitor their growth.
In Literacy we have been learning all about carnivorous plants building up our knowledge so that we can write our own non-chronological reports on them later in the term. We have been learning about the different tenses we can write in, focusing on the present tense. We created posters as a group this week.
In Maths Year 4 have continued their learning on decimals, looking at converting decimals and fractions that add up to 1. Year 3 have been looking at fractions, practicing adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
We also enjoyed a workshop about fire safety this week.
This term our PE topic is Rounders, and our PE day is on a Monday. Please ensure children come to school in their correct PE kit on the day, with suitable shoes and a hat if the weather is warm.
It is Local Elections on Thursday and our school will be used as a polling station. Could children please create a crown or hat to wear in a parade at school on Friday 5th May 2023.
We hope you have a lovely long weekend.
From Mrs Jacobs and Ms Stokes.
