This week during our Literacy sessions , our learning focus was on the 'Language and structure of debate.' The children enjoyed taking part in the debates and positive arguments.
For Maths this week the Year 3s focused on counting in fractions on a number line and how to find equivalent fractions. The Year 4s looked at the links between fractions and division and how to use bar modelling to accurately represent fractions using the denominator to influence the bars.
During Science we've explored the three different states of material: solid, liquid and gas. We created an experiment to explore how materials change state. We found out that if a solid material is heated to its melting point, it started to melt and changed state from a solid to a liquid. We've also found out that when a liquid material is cooled to its freezing point, it turns from a liquid to a solid.
Our Geography lesson was so exciting because we understood what ‘Fair Trade’ means in relation to importing goods from abroad and we could use our Maths to share an amount of 30p fairly for the banana supply chain.
For RE we've learnt that Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more of a time for fun. It's a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water. Holi is also known as the "festival of colours“.
During our PSHE session our focus was on belonging; the children understood it really well and were very interactive during this session.
Looking forward to see you next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
From Mrs Jacobs and Ms Stokes.
