Hello all!
We’ve had a fun-filled week in Oak Class and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!
🪱 In Literacy, we continued to wriggle into the world of worms! The children wrote diary entries as if they were worms themselves—slithering through soil and dodging hungry birds! We learned all about diary features and used them in our own writing. So imaginative!
🍕 In Maths, we sliced up shapes and quantities to explore halves, quarters, and even unit and non-unit fractions. We applied our newly learnt skills to achieve some challenges throughout the week! Who knew fractions could be so much fun?
🌞 Science had us becoming weather detectives! We tracked daylight hours each month and turned our data into colourful graphs. The children were amazed at the difference in daylight time between each month!
🏃♂️ PE was action-packed with sprinting, relay races, and exciting team games. We saw some super speed and brilliant teamwork - a worthy practice session gearing up for sports day!
🚗 DT & Art had us designing cars. We explored wheels, axles, and all the parts that make a car zoom!
🏔️ In Geography, we travelled (in our imaginations!) from Maidstone to a snowy ski resort. We shared holiday stories and discovered how different places can be, specifically looking at their geographical differences.
🥁 Music was all about sound and texture—called timbre—as we played untuned instruments and created some wild rhythms! I must say, we were very impressed with how well our Oak musicians could keep a beat and rhythm going!
🔤 In Phonics & Guided Reading, we consolidated set 2 and 3 knowledge and participated in a range of carousel activities from writing as many words with a particular sound challenge to phonics board games! In guided reading we used our comprehension skills to finish a story beginning. Each day we had a new story beginning and the children come up with very exciting alternative endings. Well done Oak Class, you really impressed with your creativity!
