In Maths, Year 3 started to look at pictograms, interpreting them by focusing on what the key tells us. We looked at a range of pictograms and answered questions about them, such as ‘how many more strawberries received votes than grapes?’ We then collected class data in tally chart form and created our own pictograms to represent this. Year 4 looked at different 3D shapes and their orientations. We applied our shape knowledge to solve problems.
In Literacy, we created our own free verse poems, focusing on rhyme in the patterns A,B,C,B where lines labelled ‘b’ rhymed. The children created fantastic poems based around a fictional topic of an animal or creature being somewhere in their house.
In Science, we labelled the parts of a skeleton and recapped our knowledge of what a skeleton is needed for. In History, we pulled all of our learning together to create a presentation about life in Ancient Greece including homes, God/Goddesses, Ancient Olympics vs modern day and Athens vs Sparta. In PSHE, we looked at stereotypes in different jobs and discussed how these must not limit peoples aspirations. In RE, after learning about different religious books that can be special to others, we thought about our very own special books or stories that have a significant meaning to us.
The children have been incredibly sensible with the weather being so warm. Please keep encouraging your child to bring a water bottle to school daily, to wear sun cream and to bring a sunhat to school.
Have a great weekend
