Welcome one and all to our latest Cherry Class Blog! Unbelievably, we are now moving into our final term together and for half the class, this is their final term ever at Park Way Primary School.
We are still reading our class text 'City of Ember' and this week 'got' to the really good bit! (where a letter is discovered that provides tantalising clues as to how best to escape the city.) The children made some excellent predictions and enjoyed the opportunity to both draw and describe the city's unscrupulous and appalling Mayor!
In Numeracy, Year 5 have continued their learning linked to decimals and this week looked at decimal sequences (both ascending and descending) and decimal multiplication up to 1000 times. Year 6 have both looked at measures and conversion and in some instances have practised scenes from their upcoming Leavers' production.
History this term will be linked to the Olympics and we had an enjoyable lesson looking back at the Ancient Olympic Games.......who knew that the competitors covered themselves in olive oil before their events and the penalties for a false start in a running race were so severe......!
Our new topic in RE is linked to architecture and charity and we discussed sacred and special places in our lesson and based it on individual preferences.
As well as 'athletics' this term, we are also playing handball in our PE lessons - we had a most enjoyable, competitive handball session on the playground Friday morning, where the class got to grips with a new game and strange new rules!
Have a great weekend everyone
