Wow, this term has absolutely flown by! We’ve packed it full of wonderful learning, memorable moments, and of course… SATs! Well done for our final class assembly of the year.
A huge well done to Cedar Class for all of your hard work—let’s keep that fantastic effort going for the final term of the year.
As we prepare to say goodbye to our Year 6 next term, there will be visits from secondary schools coming in to meet the children joining them in September.
Year 5 parents - Registration for the Kent Test opens on 1st June and closes on 1st July. Please see the school newsletter for more details. You must register children if you would like them to sit the test.
English
We have continued exploring The City of Ember. Recently, we’ve been focusing on the Mayor and wondering what news he will bring to the city after the blackout. There is plenty more to uncover, and we will continue our journey with the book after the holiday.
Maths
Year 6 took a well-earned step back from the intensity of SATs and channelled their creativity into designing and making their own board games. This included planning, building, and writing rules—excellent teamwork on display.
Year 5 have been busy investigating decimals, learning how to add and subtract them—an important skill, especially when dealing with money.
Science
We wrapped up our topic on light by creating colour wheels to explore how white light is made—a bright and colourful way to finish the term.
DT
We completed our 3D printing projects and hope to print them once the 3D printer has been repaired.
To round off our 3D Designers topic, we explored famous UK monuments, including Stonehenge. We discussed how it might have been built—human ingenuity or perhaps something more mysterious!
PE
We finished our cricket unit with a fantastic game with the class dividing into quarters and playing against each other. We also completed our OAA sessions with Commando Joe—great teamwork and resilience shown by everyone.
RE
In RE we learnt about the Jewish place of worship (Synogogue) and what happens when they pray.
