Term 1, Week 5

Apples and Pears have had a very busy week. In our Literacy lessons this week, the children listened to the story 'The Gingerbread Man' and answered questions about what happened in the story. We then spent the week learning about recipes, role playing making gingerbread and designing our own gingerbread man.
This week in Maths we learned about matching, sorting and comparing, by completing the following learning challenges:
  • Exploring sorting techniques
  • Creating sorting rules
  • Comparing amounts
In PSHE we recapped the story of 'The Colour Monster' and thought about how we could identify our emotions and separate them in to feelings jars.
Our PSED lesson this week required the children to learn and name our body parts using drawings, along with singing songs and playing Simon Says.
Important reminders:
  • Parents should all have access to Tapestry to view the children's learning. If you have not signed up yet please do this so you do not miss out on what the children are learning and important messages and reminders
  • All children should have a PE kit in school
  • All items of clothing MUST be clearly labelled with your child's name. This includes shoes, PE items, coats and water bottles must also be labelled too.
  • Children are required to bring in a water bottle each day, this should only have water in it
  • Please ensure your child is bringing their reading record and reading book to school everyday.
  • Ensure your child has read each week and you have written a comment in their reading record. This must be done prior to their 'reading day' at school (your child's reading day has been written on the first page of their reading record) in order for your child's book to be changed.
  • Children should not be wearing hoop earrings, only small studs are allowed to be worn in school. 
  • Earrings must be removed on PE days (Mondays)
  • If you have not done so already please set up your child's Scopay account. These details were given to you on our home visit
  • Please ensure your child brings in a coat everyday, as we use the outdoor provision in all weathers
