Cherry Class Blog 2025 26 Term 6 Week 4

Welcome everyone to the Cherry Class blog

Writing this week in unusually high temperatures; it has been a 'little warm' this week in and around school. We have been sensible though and there has been no PE sessions (athletics or handball) to comment on, as we had to cancel it this week due to the heat.

In Literacy, we finally got to the end of the class text 'City of Ember' and the children wrote an information text based on their understanding of the city, jobs that were performed there, how people lived, etc. As a 'treat' we also watched the film version of the story and noted the differences between book and film.

In Numeracy, Year 5 have started a new block of learning linked to measures and this week we converted between mm cm and m and had a fun lesson in class discovering who had the biggest smile!

In History we looked at gender inequality, and in particular linked it to the Olympics, both ancient and modern. The class were surprised to learn that when the Olympics were re-started in the 1890s, women were not allowed to participate,

Have a great weekend everyone, only three weeks to go

Mr Ramsden

P.S. Below is a message from Miss Rackley, a member of staff in charge of the school leavers' video, for YEAR 6 PARENTS ONLY.
The year 6 leavers' video is nearly complete! Children will need photo permission as it will be shown in their leavers' assembly and then uploaded to the school's PRIVATE YouTube (only this year's parents/carers will have access through a link). Unfortunately, any current year 5 children will be blurred out to avoid any safeguarding issues. (They will get their photos next year!)
  • Adults can find the consent form on Schopay in the 'Consent and permission' section, under 'photo permission ongoing'.
  • There is a reminder on the Year 6 play costume list outside Rowan Class.
  • Any children without photo permission will be blurred out of the video.
  • Parents have until the 10th July to give consent.
Any questions, please ask!
