What a lovely week we have had! The sunshine has continued, although the cooler temperatures have certainly made it more comfortable for learning and being active outdoors. π
π English
This week, we began exploring our final class book of the year, 100 Mile-an-Hour Dog: Goes for Gold ππ .
We met the main characters and used our reading skills to create detailed character descriptions, thinking carefully about their appearance, personality and behaviour.
While the Year 6 children were visiting their new secondary schools, the Year 5s put their creativity to excellent use by designing eye-catching posters to advertise the Animal Games. π¨π’ There were some fantastic ideas and persuasive features included!
β Maths
In Maths, the Year 5 children have been working hard on converting measures. π
We explored:
β’Imperial and metric measurements π
β’Converting between different units π
β’Units of time β°
β’Reading and interpreting timetables π
The children showed great determination when tackling some tricky real-life problems.
π Year 6 Transition & Play Preparations
Year 6 continued rehearsing for their end-of-year performance π and have been working incredibly hard to make it a show to remember.
On Thursday, all Year 6 pupils spent the day at their new secondary schools. π« We hope everyone had a fantastic day, met new friends and teachers, and that some of those natural worries about September have now been put to rest. We are very proud of how maturely they approached this important step in their journey. π
βοΈ RE
In RE, we learnt about Christian Aid and explored the important work they do to support communities around the world. πβ€οΈ The children considered how charities can make a positive difference to the lives of others.
π³ Forest School
While the Year 6s were away, the Year 5 children spent an hour helping to tidy and improve our Forest School area. ππͺ΅
Mr Bowles would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped. You were all amazing! πβ Your hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm made a real difference, and your efforts were greatly appreciated.
