Term 6 Week 6 10.7.26

Wow! What another hot and busy week we've had in Cedar Class! Even though the temperatures have been soaring, we've still packed in lots of fantastic learning and fun across the week.
English
We've continued enjoying our class book, 100 Mile-an-Hour Dog: Goes for Gold and have been focusing on dialogue. The children have been showing off their brilliant writing skills by creating their own conversations based on events in the story. We have also challenged ourselves to write longer pieces of dialogue including advancing the actions of the speakers.
Maths
Year 5 have now reached the end of their Measurement unit! This week, we took our learning outside and got hands-on with capacity investigations using water on the field. It was a great way to put our learning into practice. We finished the week with an assessment and the children should be incredibly proud of themselves—they worked hard and produced some fantastic results!
Year 6 Production
The excitement is building! Year 6 have continued rehearsing for their end-of-year performance; with the stage now up, it's all starting to feel very real. The cast and crew have been working extremely hard and can't wait to show everyone what they've been preparing.
Music
This week some of our Year 5 became composers! Using GarageBand, the children created their own national anthems. There were plenty of creative ideas, catchy melodies and, unsurprisingly, lots of noise!
PE
With the hot weather sticking around, we've been making the most of the shade while staying active. We enjoyed a variety of circle games and also played rounders, focusing on teamwork, communication and encouraging one another.
Science
In Science, we investigated air resistance. The children designed and built their own windmills before testing how well they worked. It was great to see everyone thinking like scientists and discussing why some designs were more successful than others.
PSHE
This week we focused on online safety. We had some thoughtful discussions about staying safe online and making sensible choices when using technology. This is an important topic, and we'll continue our learning next week.
