Cherry Class Blog 2026 27 Term 1 Week 7

Welcome everyone to our latest classroom blog.

In English this week, the class planned and wrote a 'Hot Write' linked to Goodnight Mr Tom. A Hot Write is an independent piece of writing, planned and written without any adult assistance. The theme was recount (diary entry) and the children wrote in role as either one of the two main characters; Mr Tom or William Beech.

In Numeracy, Year 5 have spent the week learning about factors and multiples whilst Year 6 have consolidated their learning linked to multiplication, division and fractions.

In Science mid-week we looked at naming animals using clues and in PSHE we looked at emotions and how we deal them in certain situations. For example what people might do to regulate their emotions, such as listen to music, go for a walk or even eat a Mars chocolate bar!

In our topic learning we investigated Maidstone old and new, and saw how the town has changed through looking at old maps (Park Way school used to be an orchard 150 years ago!)

In PE we went onto the field yesterday for football and fitness and today we were 'rained off' basketball due to the weather so went into the hall instead and did some yoga!
