Welcome one and all to our Week 3 Cherry Class blog.
Literacy this week has seen us developing our understanding of our class text 'Goodnight Mr Tom'. We have looked into the character of William Beech, the young boy evacuated from London to the safety of the countryside in 1940. The children wrote in role, as William, in the style of a diary entry.
In Numeracy this week, both year groups have been hard at their learning. Year 5 concentrated on using numbers lines to accurately order numbers up to 1 million and partitioning, whilst Year 6 investigated negative numbers on a number line and rounding.
In History this week, the class used pictures of historical events (ranging from prehistoric cave drawing to World War 2 and a lot in between!) to match up dates and events on a timeline. The children worked really well collaboratively with this task, and had timelines stretched across the classroom floor.
In PE we had a great basketball session yesterday involving both dribbling and passing and in Science we investigated life cycles of various animal groups.
Have a great weekend everyone
