Term 1, Week 4 (25/9/26)

We are already halfway through the first term of the year, and this week we enjoyed our first class assembly too! 🎤🌟

A huge well done to all of the children for their hard work and fantastic effort. Mr Bowles would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Morris and Mrs Rackley for stepping in and helping with the assembly. 👏😊

✍️ English

This week, we have continued exploring the wonderful story Goodnight Mister Tom. 📖✨

We have focused on developing our understanding of both William Beech and Mr Tom, looking closely at their characters and the changing relationship between them. The children have written detailed descriptions of Mr Tom and imagined themselves in his position by writing diary entries about taking in an evacuee during World War II. 🚂

There has been some fantastic writing, and we are becoming increasingly confident at writing from a character's point of view. ⭐

🔢 Maths

Year 6

Year 6 have been learning about common factors and multiples and using their knowledge of division rules to solve division problems more efficiently. 🧠➗

They have worked hard to spot patterns in numbers and develop quicker methods for calculating answers.

Year 5

Year 5 have been focusing on rounding numbers to the nearest:

✅ 1,000,000

They have become much more confident when identifying which digit to look at and deciding whether to round up or down. 🎯🔢

🔬 Science

In Science, we explored life cycles in greater detail. 🌱🐛🐸

The children learned about what a life cycle is and investigated the different stages that living things go through as they grow and develop. 🦋🌿

⚽🏀 PE

We have continued developing our skills in Football and Basketball, focusing on passing, teamwork, communication and game awareness. 🙌

The children have shown excellent cooperation and determination during lessons. 🌟

💻 Computing

In Computing, we continued learning about Alan Turing and his incredible contribution to code-breaking and modern computing. 🔐💡

The children have been creating either a PowerPoint presentation or a poster to showcase what they have learned about his life and achievements. 🖥️📜

✝️ RE

This week in RE, the children explored the concept of reincarnation and discussed what it means in different religions and belief systems. 🌍🙏

There were some thoughtful discussions and plenty of interesting questions!

🎓 Year 6 Secondary School Information

Secondary schools are continuing to hold their Open Days and Open Evenings. 🏫 We strongly encourage Year 6 families to visit schools with their children and explore the options available.

If you are visiting a secondary school during the school day, please let us know beforehand and remember to order a school dinner if your child requires one. 🍽️
