Term 1 Week 7

What a fantastic first term we have had! The children have all settled into routines and deserve a well-earned week of rest! Well done Walnut Class, we are very proud of you!

This week the children learnt how to give CPR through the ‘Restart a Heart’ workshop with the Kent and Sussex Air Ambulance service. As part of this workshop, the children were asked to demonstrate what they learnt by showing somebody at home. Please make some time for your child to do this. It really can save lives.

To finish off our Island Life learning, we have created and performed our own play scripts in Literacy this week. We have identified the features and made use of stage directions to instruct our characters on what to do. We had great fun performing different playscripts- we have great actors among us!

In Maths Year 4 have been looking at column addition and subtraction including calculations with exchanging and regrouping. Year 3 have been looking at expanded column subtraction with up to one exchange.

In Music we listened to traditional music from different cultures from Trinidad and Tobago, Indonesia, Scotland and Japan. We tried to identify the instruments we could hear and discussed what we thought about them. We then thought about our own favourite song and why we like this.  In computing we added slide animations and transitions to a PowerPoint all about us. This was a great way to review the learning completed this term and to set goals for the term ahead.

Have a great half term break. We look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday 28th October. Please note our class assembly will be on Friday 31st October.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Daniells and Mrs Ali.
