Term 1 Week 6

This week we have completed our hot writes, writing our own adventure stories based on Robinson Crusoe. Using our plan from last week, we created a story which included a number of problems, such as being held captive by a tribe or getting injured, with our character finally escape the island or the island becoming home for them. The children have blown us away with their writing this week - well done Walnut Class! I am sure you will enjoy reading these stories at parents evening.

In Maths Year 4 have been looking at the formal written method for addition, including grouping. Year 3 have been looking at adding and subtracting 10's across 100. They have been using the number line to find the next or previous multiple of 10 and have used this to break down the addition. It is key that they are confident with their number bonds to and within 20 so continue to practise these when you can please.

In Geography we are working in groups to create posters and presentations comparing the human and physical geography of the three islands we have looked at this term. I look forward to being the audience next week and seeing the children showcase all of their learning.

In Science we have been learning about the importance of sun safety and created posters to show how to keep SMART in the sun. In Art we have been taking inspiration from the work of Damien Hirst and his kaleidoscope images. We used repeated patterns and carefully considered the colour, shape and position that we used.

Finally, if you are able to volunteer to walk the children to and from swimming lessons on Tuesdays we would be most grateful. Please contact the office to volunteer.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Daniells and Mrs Ali.
