Term 4, Week 2 (6/3/26)

🌼 Spring Is Nearly Here! 🌞

What a difference a bit of sunshine makes β€” everyone seems brighter and full of energy as we move closer to Spring!

πŸ“š World Book Day Magic

A huge well done to everyone who dressed up for World Book Day! The costumes were fantastic β€” we loved seeing our very ownΒ Jack AND the Beanstalk (yes, with the actual stalk! 🌱), our brave Robin Hoods 🏹, Cinderella πŸ‘‘, Grandma, and of course Mr Bowles as the Big Bad Wolf 🐺.
You all looked incredible!

✍️ English Adventures

In English, we’ve been diving into Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves from the Arabian Nights collection to celebrate World Book Day.
We:

  • Sequenced the story
  • Made puppets and props 🎭
  • Practiced retelling the tale with partners
  • Performed our retellings to the children in Oak Class through drama or puppet shows πŸŽͺ

Oak Class also shared the story they have been learning this week β€” a wonderful storytelling exchange!

πŸ”’ Marvellous Maths

Year 5

  • Worked with decimals up to 3 decimal places
  • Ordered and compared decimals
  • Rounded numbers to 1 decimal place
  • They ended the week investigating percentages ✨

Year 6

  • Explored the volume of 3D shapes
  • Practised converting different measures to calculate volume πŸ“

πŸ”¬ Super Science

This week we investigated adaptation and how animals change over time to survive in their environments.
Did you know…
🦊 The Arctic Fox has brown fur in summer but this turns white and thicker in winter?
🦊 The Desert Fox has large ears to help it stay cool?
Amazing adaptations!

🍎 DT Discoveries

We explored where different foods come from β€” whether they are caught, reared, or processed. Lots of great discussion!

🎾 Dance & Tennis in PE

Our Mission Impossible dance is really taking shape as we add more moves each week πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί.
In tennis, we’ve been practicing backhands and holding rallies β€” fantastic progress! 🎾

πŸ’» Computing

We continued exploring databases, looking at when and why they are useful.

⚠️ Social Media Reminder

We’ve had some issues with group chats on Snapchat and WhatsApp where unkind words have been exchanged. This has an impact on behaviour in school.
πŸ“± Please monitor your child’s phone β€” these apps have age restrictions.
