Term 3, Week 6 (13/2/26)

πŸŽ‰ Wow… Term 3 flew by!

What a super fun and wonderfully busy few weeks we’ve had! βœ¨πŸ“š

✏️ English

This week, we became journalists! πŸ—žοΈ The children planned, wrote and edited their very own newspaper articles based on The Hero Twins. The quality of writing has been amazing β€” seriously impressive stuff! 🌟

πŸ”’ Maths

Year 5 have been diving into decimals (to 2 decimal places!) and exploring equivalent fractions and decimals β€” all while consolidating everything we've learned this term. Great determination all round! πŸ’ͺ
Year 6 have been comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percentages, and revisiting the key facts they need to master each one. We wrapped up the week by finding percentages of amounts β€” brilliant effort! 🎯

πŸ”¬ Science

We explored filtration this week: how water is cleaned so it's safe to drink, and how pollution affects our water systems. Lots of great scientific thinking and questioning! πŸ’§πŸ”

🏺 History

We turned into Mayan food critics! πŸ˜„ The children tasted foods from a typical Mayan diet β€” avocado, tortilla, red kidney beans, sweetcorn and peppers. Some loved it… others weren’t so sure! 🌽πŸ₯‘

🎨 Art

Mayan masks! 🎭 We researched, sketched, designed, painted and decorated our very own masks β€” and then held a mask parade with Cherry and Cedar Class. They looked absolutely amazing. So creative! 🌟✨ Please see the photos on this blog!

πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ PE

In Gymnastics, we worked as a team to create sequences using rolling, balancing and movement on larger apparatus. Children must remove shoes and socks for safety, but a few are refusing β€” please help reinforce this at home 🧦🚫
Also: a reminder that some children are not wearing the correct PE kit. Please ensure they come in:
➑️ black joggers/leggings
➑️ team-coloured top or plain white top
➑️ school jumper/sweater

❀️ PSHE

We learned some super important basic first aid skills, including how to help someone with a head injury. The children were so sensible and focused β€” well done! πŸ§ πŸ’‘
