Term 3, Week 3 (23/01/26)

Half way through the term already – it’s flying by!
Please continue to remind the children about washing their hands regularly and covering their mouths when coughing, as there are lots of germs circulating at the moment. Please remember to tie-up your hair, if it is long.

English

This week we explored the Mayan Lords of Death. The children produced fantastic character descriptions and even used AI to visualise what these mythical figures might look like.

Maths

  • Year 6 have continued their work on decimals and place value, including adding and subtracting decimals with different place values.
  • Year 5 focused on division and using remainders accurately.

RE

We learned about the Islamic call to prayer and discussed its origins and significance.

PE

We have now begun our hockey sessions and have also been working with Commando Joe to develop teamwork and cooperation.

PSHE

Our focus this week has been AI—its uses, benefits, and the potential dangers to be aware of.

Spanish

We are continuing to build our knowledge of Spanish phonics.

Science

The children carried out an investigation into which materials dissolve in water. They really enjoyed the practical work and produced some excellent conclusions.

Understanding the Justice System

We also had a very informative chat from Alvin to the Year 6s, who explained what a Magistrate is and helped the children understand how the court system works. The children were really engaged and asked thoughtful questions throughout.

 Golden Book

🌟 Gerald – for writing an excellent description of his Lord of Death, using expanded noun phrases.
🌟 Timur – for showing great teamwork skills during PE.

Have a lovely weekend!
