Term 2, Week 2 (7/11/25)

Wow โ€” how quickly are the weeks flying by? It feels like we blink and itโ€™s Friday again! โณ๐Ÿ‚ This week has been full of learning, creativity, and some brilliant discussions.

It was so lovely to see so many of you at Parentsโ€™ Evening โ€” thank you for taking the time to come in and chat about your childโ€™s learning journey.

โœ๏ธ English Adventures

In English, weโ€™ve been diving into the world of poetry with Matt Goodfellowโ€™s work ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ“š. We explored how poems are laid out, spotted rhyming patterns, and even counted syllables to see how they shape the rhythm of a poem. By the end of the week, we picked our own themes and wrote our very own poems โ€” and they were fantastic! ๐Ÿ“โœจ

โž— Maths

Year 5 have been busy finding fractions of objects and discovering how to spot equivalent fractions ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ”ข. Year 6 have been tackling improper fractions and converting them to mixed numbers (and back again!). They've also been adding and subtracting mixed numbers โ€” itโ€™s been a bit tricky, especially finding that common denominator, but theyโ€™ve shown great perseverance ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿงฎ.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ DT Fun with LEGO

In DT, we got hands-on with LEGO to explore pulley systems โš™๏ธ and even coded them using laptops to control the movement ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿš€ The class had a lot of fun!

๐Ÿ›๏ธ History Time Travel

We have looked at key inventions from throughout history and discussed what we thought was the most important invention ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ก. We had some brilliant conversations about how the wheel and fire changed the world โ€” such simple ideas with such a huge impact! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ›ž

โœ‹ RE: Respect & Equality

In RE, weโ€™re focusing on racism and why itโ€™s unfair. Our key words this week were: racism, prejudice, diversity, and equality ๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒˆ. We looked at different scenarios and had some thoughtful discussions about fairness and respect.

Science: Animals Including Humans

This term weโ€™re exploring Animals Including Humans and this week we learnt about gestation and the stages of human life โ€” from baby to old age and placed this information in to graphs using Excel. ๐Ÿ‘ถโžก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ต. Lots of great questions and curiosity from the class!

๐Ÿ‰ PE: Fitness & Tag Rugby

Weโ€™re keeping active with Fitness and Tag Rugby ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‰. Just a reminder โ€” PE days are staying the same, so keep those kits ready!

๐ŸŒŸ Golden Book Shout-Outs ๐ŸŒŸ

A big shout-out to our Golden Book winners this week ๐Ÿ‘

Shannon for showing amazing resilience and growing confidence in her maths skills, and Jasmine for her fantastic acting when reciting a poem. Her confidence has really blossomed this year! ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ“ข Reminders

Only stud earrings should be worn to school, and no necklaces please.

Smart watches must be handed in with phones each morning.

Please make sure PE kits follow the school uniform policy.

๐Ÿ  Home Learning

Children should be practising their times tables on TTRockstars ๐ŸŽธ, working on their spellings via EdShed ๐Ÿ, and Year 6 have maths homework set on MyMaths ๐Ÿ’ป. Everyone should be reading daily and recording it in their Reading Records ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ.

Wishing you all a lovely, restful weekend! ๐ŸŒˆ
