🎉 Hello from Rowan Class! 🎉

Another fab week of learning, laughs, and lots of exciting stuff!

🚲 Bikeability
Big high fives to everyone who took part in Bikeability! Lots of good listening and learning how to be extra safe on your bicycles.

đź“– English Fun
We’ve finished Kensuke’s Kingdom; what a story! We had loads of thoughts and feelings about the characters. We spoke about how we felt for Kensuke and Michael, wrote our own predictions, found out more about Nagasaki (where Kensuke is from), and even wrote our own fact files. We also came up with some great questions we’d ask Michael if we met him—and acted it all out!

âž— Maths Magic

  • Year 5 have been learning all about multiples and factors. We used Venn diagrams (fancy name for sorting circles!) and it’s really helped with times tables too.
  • Year 6 have been working hard on long division. It’s tricky stuff—especially with big numbers—but they’re giving it a great go! (Parents: there are some helpful SATs resources on the school website if you want to help at home.)

Science Stuff
We looked at some weird and wonderful animal life cycles—ones that don’t follow the usual rules. Super interesting!

🗺️ Geography Explorers
We’ve been learning how to read maps using 4- and 6-digit grid references. We also talked about why map keys are so useful. Map detectives in the making!

🍲 DT = Delicious Time!
We’ve planned our recipe for next week’s cooking session. We’re making a stew inspired by the Cape Verde dish Cachupa. Yum!

This week we talked about families—what they look like, how they’re different, and what makes them special.

🏅 Golden Book Stars

  • Natasa – for her resilient nature and always giving her learning 100% this year. It is great to see your confidence grow this year!
  • Jenson – for his AMAZING science learning this week. I love that he is now taking responsibility for his learning and expanding his knowledge without being asked.

⚽🏀 PE Power
We’ve been building our football and basketball skills—lots of teamwork and fun!

📢 Reminders

  • Jewellery: Only stud earrings, please. No necklaces or dangly bits. Smartwatches and phones need to be handed in each morning.
  • PE Kit: Please check the school uniform guide to make sure it’s the right one.
  • Chewing Gum: Not allowed in school—thanks for helping us keep things tidy!
