A busy week in class with learning about where Paddington visited in London and looking at Buckingham Palace in particular. In Maths, children have been learning how to subtract and find missing numbers. In History, we looked at the origins of Fireworks Night and in RE children learnt about some of the Christian symbols. In Science, we looked at different materials and their uses and in Computing children created some art using paintz.app inspired by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. In D&T, Oak Class explored how to design and make free standing structures that are strong, rigid and stable. They collaborated in small groups to make different tubes that can stand on their own. The design brief was to make 4 different types of tubes - short, long, wide and thin. Then they evaluated their designs and decided that the tubes with the wider bases had the more stable structures.
Well done to the children on their amazing class assembly today. I am so proud of them! Thank you to the parents who were able to attend and it was lovely to meet so many of you at parents' evening earlier in the week.
