Rehearsals for our production of Lights Camel Action! are well on the way and children have been busy learning their lines, dances and songs.
On Tuesday, children really enjoyed watching the story of the Great Fire of London through a theatre show. They learnt how the fire started, why it spread so quickly and how they got the fire under control and eventually stopped it from spreading. Most importantly, the children learnt why this was a significant historical event. We learnt that after the Great Fire of London, houses were built out of stone rather than wood. We got to know all of this information because of Samuel Pepys's diary. At the end of the show, the children worked together to re-build the city of London. What a great afternoon!
Children have begun to build their sky scrapers, bridges, castles and towers in DT and investigated whether materials could be squashed, bent, twisted or stretched in Science. In English, we read the book Vlad and the Great Fire of London and children wrote about visiting a bakery. In Maths, children have learnt how to find 10 more and 10 less than a given number and in RE, we looked at the Nativity Story.
