Week ending 23.1.26

Another busy week in Oak Class where children were immersed in the successes of Florence Nightingale. They learned more about her life growing up in a wealthy family and how she chose to become a nurse because she wanted to help the sick. Children learned about the difference she and her team of nurses made in Scutari Hospital during the Crimean war, and even made their own lamps since she was known as The Lady of the Lamp.

In English, children have been writing evocative descriptions of the hospital before and after Florence arrived, and the importance of hygienic hand washing, still important today!

In Maths, children have been learning how to add and subtract bridging tens and in computing they discovered how to use the toolbar; experimenting with changing fonts, the font size, using bold, italics and underlining words.

Well done to Aadya for winning the Art trophy this term and to Aderonke for winning the Book Worm trophy. Congratulations!

Have a wonderful weekend.
