Spring Term 2 - Winter Olympics

Welcome back to an exciting new term.  This term our topic is going to be based on the Winter Olympics.

Our focus text in English is called 'The Frog Olympics.' We are going to be learning to write rhyming poems and performing them using intonation and expression.

In Maths we have been learning to multiply. We have learnt that multiplication means to add the same number 'lots of times.'  Year 1s have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and Year 2s have been learning to recall the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table.

In DT this term, we will be making pizzas at the end of the unit to link in with the Winter Olympics in Italy. We have been discussing what a healthy diet is and learnt about the different groups in the Eatwell Plate. We have tasted some food that Italy is famous for such as spaghetti, pizzas, tomatoes and mozarella cheese. We also then worked out if the food came from a plant or an animal.

In Art we have been learning to blend primary colours to make secondary colours and have also practised the painting techniques of stippling, blending and dry brush. 

It was World Book Day on Thursday and we all looked amazing in our costumes. Please check our Teams page for photos.
