Welcome parents to our final Cherry Class blog of the term (and what an especially fun week it has been!)
In Literacy, the children wrote newspaper reports based on our class text 'The Hero Twins' about two teenage boys who travel to the Mayan Underworld to fight the Lords of Death and avenge their fathers who were tricked and unfairly punished by the Lords many years previously......! We have completed a lot of learning this term linked to features of newspaper reports, and working as reporters to gain quotes for the actual newspaper reports also.
In Numeracy this week, Year 5 have been investigating decimals and how they link to fractions whilst Year 6 have concentrated their efforts on percentages.
We had an enjoyable gymnastics lesson in the hall midweek - we got out all the equipment for the children to work on in pairs to perform a series of balances.
In DT and Art this final week, the children designed and created their own Mayan masks! They worked very sensibly on these creations and we had a 'Masquerade Ball' in the hall for all the children across the three classes to show off their masks!
Coupled with the Mayan masks sessions we also tried food linked to the Mayans such as tortillas, avocado, pineapple and hot chocolate!
Well done everyone for all your efforts this term, have a great week away.
Regards Mr J Ramsden and Miss Stokes
