Cherry Class Blog 2025 26 Week 3 Term 3

Welcome parents to our latest classroom blog for Term 2 (Week 3)

In Literacy, we have spent an enjoyable week investigating figurative language (especially similes, metaphors and personification) and have incorporated these strategies into writing our own independent poems.

In Numeracy, both year groups have focused on Fractions, with Year 5 looking at comparing and ordering fractions greater than one (improper fractions and mixed numbers) whilst Year 6 looked at fraction division.

In topic this week, we had a history lesson linked to 'The House of Wisdom' a type of 'super-university' established over 1000 years ago in modern day Baghdad. We looked at how it appealed to scholars all over the Islamic world and how it became an amazing base to learn about mathematics, science, engineering, map making, astronomy, surgery and translation.

In Science we focused on adolescents and the changes the body goes through in puberty and in RE we looked at two statues in Bristol and how they were received after the Black Lives Matter campaign from about 5 years ago.

In PE we buckled up our tag rugby belts yesterday and had a go at tackling (!) and today we had an energetic fitness session, with the sole aim of increasing our pulse rates!

Have a great weekend everyone

Regards
