Welcome everyone to Week 2 Term 4 blog!
Slightly different tasks this week, as in preparation for World Book Day on Thursday 5th March, our Literacy learning was linked to the traditional tale Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, written and set in ancient Persia well over 100 years ago. The children really enjoyed the story and used drama to further their understanding. We also created props and items such as finger puppets to recreate the story for a Year 1 audience on Friday morning!
In Numeracy this week, Year 6 investigated volume and 3d shapes whilst Year 5 looked at decimals and rounding and moved onto percentages on Friday.
In Science, the class looked again at evolution and adaption and choose two unusual animals from a different habitat (e.g. snow leopard and a flamingo) who have adapted to their surroundings in order to survive and flourish.
In RE we looked at love! In that we looked at a famous passage from the Bible linked exclusively to love and we unpicked in the class what 'love' meant to the children.
In PE we went outside and played tennis and in Computing we investigated 'databases' and the children used their new understanding to search databases to identify such categories as country populations, currencies and land masses.
Have a great weekend everyone!
