Term 2 Week 5 27.11.25

We can't believe this is the last week of November!
In English, we’ve continued to explore rhythm and poetry through rap. We have listened to more poems by Karl Nova and have planned, written and edited our own poems. We wrote a poem about something special to us and then another poem that interested us: this also linked to Parliament Week. The children are really developing their confidence when it comes to performing their poems.
In Maths, Year 5 have continued with their learning on fractions, whilst Year 6 have focused on measures. They have been recapping on converting metric units of measures as well as miles to KM. They have been problem solving where the answers have had to be converted. Please explore the Year 6 SATs resources page on our website for further support.
In Science, we continued to focus on puberty and adolescence by exploring personal hygiene and why this is important. We created a poster to advertise this.
In DT, we used Tinkercad to explore circuits ready to build our cars.
In PSHE, we have focused on UK Parliament Week. We have found out about the Houses of Parliament, what it is, where it is, who makes up Parliament, how laws are made or changed. We found out about the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We had our own debate about school uniform and even drafted a letter to our local MP Helen Grant with our own concerns on topics important to us.
PE is still going strong with fitness and tag rugby. The children are improving their scores in fitness every week and showing fantastic teamwork and determination.
Finally, a big congratulations to our Golden Book winners this week: Alden for a great poetry performance and Arthur for his fantastic contribution to discussions and debates.
Could the children bring in recyclable materials: cardboard boxes, plastic pots and lids for our DT project next week.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone.
