Term 4, Week 5

In our Literacy lessons this week, the children have been learning about Easter and the fun things we can do with friends and family to celebrate. Throughout the week the children have been busy creating their own Easter cards using paint and fingerprints. We have recapped how to write a card and practiced this as a class. The children then used this learning and their phonics knowledge to write the inserts to their own cards.
This week in Maths we have covered the following learning topics:
  • Recognise and name 3D shapes
  • Find 2D shapes within 3D shapes
  • Use 3D shapes for tasks
  • 3D shapes in the environment
In PSHE the children took turns in completing an obstacle course....but unlike last week, this time they were blindfolded and given instructions by their partner. They really enjoyed this and had fun watching each other trying to complete the course. The children understood that in order to complete the course they had to listen carefully to their partner so they could hear the instructions.
Our Understanding of the World lesson this week allowed the children to look at different habitats and find the similarities and differences between them. This included identifying the features of the environment, the temperature/weather, and which animals you may find there.
A huge thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us for parents' evening, it was lovely to be able to share the children's learning with you and discuss their progress.
