In our Literacy lessons this week we have been learning about seeds and plants and what they need to grow. The children listened to the story 'The Tiny Seed'. We spoke about what happened in the story and the journey the tiny seed went on before it found the right conditions to be able to grow. As a class we labelled a picture of a growing plant, identifying what it needs to grow. The children were then able to complete their own version for this week's learning challenge.
This week in Maths we have covered the following learning topics:
-Conceptual subitising to 10
-One more
-One less
In PSHE we played a game called 'Pass the Whisper'. We sat in a circle, and something was whispered into the first child's ear. The children had to pass this whisper around the circle and the last child to hear it, had to tell us what was said. The children had to try hard to listen carefully and ensure they passed on the correct word. We spoke afterwards about what was challenging about the game and how easy it is to mishear or pass on the wrong message. We discussed why it is important not to spread unkind things about others and speak to an adult if they are ever concerned.
Our Understanding of the World lesson this week focused on seasons and the changes that happen to animals, plants and the environment throughout the different seasons. We created a list as a class.
On Wednesday morning Apples and Pears had a visit from Kent Fire and Rescue and learned lots of information about how to identify a danger, when to call for help, what number to call, how to stay safe at home and what to do if they ever see a fire.
On Friday we have a wonderful afternoon with our Mummy or special ladies in our lives at our stay and play session. We created some exciting art learning with our mummies and gave them our lovely Mother’s Day cards we had made throughout the week. Thank you to everyone who came along!
We hope you have a lovely weekend and Mother’s Day.
