Term 2, Week 2

The children have now completed the second week of the term. In our Literacy lessons this week we have been learning nursery rhymes. At the start of the week, we took a vote as to which nursery rhyme we would like to use for our learning. The majority vote won. Apples voted for 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Litte Star' and Pears voted for 'Wind the Bobbin Up'.
We learned our song throughout the week including the actions. As a class we then created an action map which we could follow as we sang. On Friday each class got the opportunity to perform their song to the other class. Apples and Pears all demonstrated fantastic singing- well done!
In Maths we have been working in groups to focus on numbers '1, 2 and 3'.
Activity 1 involved the children playing a game of 'What's the time Mr Wolf' and walking 'one more' step each time.
Activity 2 required the children to sing '3 Little Speckled Frogs' using props, and understanding that we end up with 'one less' each time.
Activity 3 challenged the children to consider composition of the number 3. They did this by counting out three double sided counters, shaking them in their hand and dropping them on the table to see how they landed i.e. 1+2=3.
In PE this week we practiced walking in different directions. We walked forward, backwards, sideways, in a curved line and also in a zig zag. We also walked in directions to create some of the different sounds we know.
For PSHE we spoke about special people in our lives and we learned that this does not only include people within our family. We discussed other people that may be significant in our lives, who they are and why they are important to us.
Our PSED lesson this week allowed us to share how we might feel when someone does not share with us and what we can do in these situations.
Have a lovely weekend,
