Week beginning 9th January 2023

Our first full week has flown by and we have done some amazing learning!

In Literacy this week, we looked at letters. Drawing on our previous learning, children demonstrated their understanding of letters when they wrote a persuasive letter to Mrs Dhanecha. We looked at the purpose of our writing and took ideas from models to help us choose an appropriate form. We also made predictions in Reading! Using the blurb and front cover to give us clues, children started to predict what our text The Demon Headmaster would be about.

On Tuesday, we dressed as rockstars and were lucky enough to have a workshop with Rock Kidz. They taught us to perform a song to build our self-confidence and wellbeing. Even the teachers got involved!

In computing, we used Tinkercad to design circuits and simulate physical systems. Our topic is very closely linked with Science and Tinkercad helps us to design and debug our circuits before we attempt them with physical hardware.

In Maths this week, Year 6 have been learning how to describe the relative size of data by using ratio and proportion. Whereas in Year 5, they started multiplication. They began by multiplying one-digit number by a 4 digit number and then moved on to multiplying 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers using a formal method.
