Week beginning 6th February

Our last week of the term has had some exciting learning opportunities.

In Literacy, we have been writing instructions using time adverbials to cohesively link our paragraphs. We also used our Science knowledge as we wrote instructions to create a circuit that could function as an alarm. We used the appropriate scientific symbols in our diagrams to explain how to create a circuit.

In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at interpreting data and statistics from line graphs. In Year 6, we have been looking at decimals and how to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers with up to two decimal places.

In Science, we have been designing our own art installation with a circuit to provide a light show. We also investigated using pencils as dimmer switches using the lead at either end to conduct electricity.

In PSHE, we have learnt about how to respond in an emergency. Today, we looked at CPR and the recovery position to support children when dealing with unresponsive casualties.

In RE, we explored the features of a mosque, which we will revisit in our first week back by going on a trip to a local mosque. On Monday 20th, Rowan Class will be visiting the local mosque in the afternoon. Any parents wanting to come and help are more than welcome to. The children will be able to see the features and understand more about how Muslims worship.

Next term, our topic will be Space Explorers! I hope you have a good break and come back ready and refreshed on Monday 20th February.
