First week back blog

Hello :)

A huge welcome to all pupils and parents to Oak Class! It has been lovely to welcome you all back to school and I hope you've had a restful and exciting summer holiday!

We have had a week of settling back into routines this week, recalling our school rules and getting back into the habit of lessons.

Literacy

In literacy this week we have been focusing on our sounds and building sentences. We have used our history topic on the Victorians to help us with this, discussing how life for a child was different during this time period and looking at some images of Victorian children. We have looked at our sounds and when to use a capital letter and full stop.

Maths

This week we have been focusing on our key skills of the 10 times table and our number bonds to 10 and 20. We have played games and sung songs to help us remember.

Art project

This week, to settle back into the afternoons we have completed an art project. We looked at the image of a butterfly and tried to copy it. We then focused on different techniques including focusing on the size, shape and detail to create a final drawing. We were very proud of our progress!

Below you will find some pictures of Oak Class displays ready for all the amazing learning that will be going on them!
