Term 5 Week 1

What an amazing start we have had to Term 5!

We kick-started the week by winning the TT Rock Stars trophy; a massive well done to Ivy Class! Keep up the fantastic work because I’m sure we want to win it again.

In maths this week we have been looking at recognising and finding half of a shape as well as half of a quantity. We now know that each half must be equal and that 2 halves make one whole. We then began to look at quarters which we will be continuing next week...

In literacy this week we have been reading ‘A Diary of a Worm’ where we have been learning about diary entries. We became our inner worms, role-played parts of the story, began to retrieve features of a diary and use this information to beginning writing our own. We also looked at making our writing much more exciting by looking at different types of adjectives; rather than use the word angry, we can use much more exciting vocabulary such as outraged and infuriated!

In RE, we were looking at meaningful and sacred places of worship in Christianity, Judaism and Islam.  We thought about why these places are so special and thought about where our special places are.

In science we were recognising and identifying common flowers and plants.  We went outside to explore and make annotations of photographs we took on the iPads!

In Design and Technology, we looked at watering devices and evaluated what was good and bad about the design and how we could improve them.

Have a wonderful weekend and a very well earned rest; I shall see you Monday!
