Spring Term - Week 6

Week 6

It has been a lovely term with lots of amazing learning done by all the children of Holly Class. In Literacy this week we wrote letters using the features of letters such as the receiver's address, date and sign off.  The children wrote a letter to a friend to persuade them to buy the Traction Man toy.

In Numeracy this week both year groups have been working on their times tables. Year 1s have been learning to count in 2s and 5s and Year 2s have been applying their times table knowledge of the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table to complete division calculations. The children have also had opportunities to access TT Rockstars in order to improve their recall speed.

In Science this week the children reviewed properties of materials and are very confident in using the vocabulary to group and compare materials. In P.E we learnt how to do balances on the floor and on small apparatus such as benches and tables. The children then created sequences that included different ways of travelling as well as balances.

We finished off the week by learning about the festival of Passover that is celebrated by many Jewish people.  The children learnt how the Sedar plate reminds the Jewish people of the different parts of the story and we tasted some of the items from the Sedar plate (see pictures).

Have a lovely half-term. The first day back will be Monday 20th February.
